Michelle Shearer, '95 Named 2011 National Teacher of the Year Michelle completed her senior thesis research in the Bocarsly lab in 1995. Michelle has taught at schools in Maryland including Urbana High School and the Maryland School for the Deaf. Her efforts to spur all students to success in chemistry have been duly recognized. The four active projects currently being investigated are:
· Electrochemical and Photoelectrochemical CO2 Reduction;
· Novel electrocatalysts and membrane treatments for the direct ethanol fuel cell;
· Photochemistry of Fe-Pt-Fe Charge Transfer Complexes;
· Novel cyanogel materials for metal nanoparticle synthsis.
