For College StudentsYou're at a turning point in your life and many possibilities lie before you. During college many of you are challenged to make the faith of your parents your own faith. Through our baptism each one of us is called to ministry in God's church. And some of us have a special call to ordination as a priest. For someone called by God to the priesthood there is no better life, and no other life will be truly satisfying regardless of income or social status. If you have ever caught yourself thinking about the possibility of becoming a priest, don't push the idea away. Instead, talk to a priest you know and ask questions about what being a priest is like and talk about your thoughts about how God may be calling you. Also, consider applying to one of the many summer and year-long internship programs sponsored by various parishes and dioceses around the country that are designed to help college students discern how God is calling them. You've got nothing to lose and a lot to gain! Where do you go for more information? First, talk to the Episcopal chaplain at your school or to a parish priest. Look for your diocesan web site to find information about the ordination process. Have a look at the web site for PLSE (pronounced "pulse", standing for Pastoral Leadership Search Effort) which has great resources for young people considering ordained ministry. Another good web site with resources for you to look at is "Hear God's Call" offered by the Episcopal Church Center in New York City. And visit the web sites of the various Episcopal seminaries:
