Support ECP

"People have made at least a start at understanding the meaning if life when they plant shade trees under which they know full well they will never sit."
- Adapted from David Elton Trueblood

The William Alexander Procter Foundation pays the salary and benefits of the Episcopal chaplain at Princeton as well as for the basic month to month maintenance of Procter House. Procter House is an old building (built in 1860) that requires a level of maintenance beyond the financial reach of the Foundation.

This means that all funds for programs of The Episcopal Church at Princeton must come from donations from people like you. Our programs include weekly worship, weekly fellowship meals, weekly groups that discuss the Bible and other topics, an annual retreat, trips to national gatherings of Episcopal college students and chaplains, and various outreach activities such as our work ministering to rescue workers at Ground Zero in New York City, visiting residents at a local nursing home, participating in the annual CROP WALK to stop world hunger, and delivering food to needy families in Trenton. Numerous lay and ordained leaders of the Episcopal Church have been raised up by the ministries of The Procter Foundation, including six current students who are considering ordination to the priesthood.

The William Alexander Procter Foundation has not had an infusion of new funds since it was established in 1929. It is vital for future generations of Princetonians and for the future of our church that we build up the Procter Foundation endowment.

Is the Episcopal Church at Princeton in your will and other estate plans?

Explore Creative Planned Giving Options Online

Have you considered including ECP in your estate plans? Are you confused about the many possible options for doing this? If so, you might find it useful to visit several pages on our web site that provide information on wills/bequests, charitable gifts and trusts, and gifts of life insurance.

We need your support to provide a spiritual home in the Anglican tradition for Princeton students so that we can raise up lay and ordained leaders for our Church as we have been doing for over 125 years. Please help us with a generous tax-deductible contribution right now and include us in your will and other estate plans.

Gifts of Stock or Mutual Fund Shares

An easy way to support ECP is to give shares of appreciated stock or mutual funds. The cost to you is whatever you originally paid for the shares, but the tax dedication you can claim is for the fully appreciated value of the shares at the time of your gift. All you have to do is contact your broker and tell them you want to make a charitable gift transfer. Tell them the name of the stock or the fund and the number of shares you want to donate and ask them to send the gift to:

To:The Episcopal Church at Princeton University
At:RBC Dain Rauscher (contact: Rob Hearne 609-688-2380)
DTC#:0235
Account #:1101-2609-5068

And please tell us you have made this gift so we can thank you send and you a proper acknowledgement. If you have questions about this, contact us, your tax advisor, or your broker.

Volunteer Opportunities

There are a variety of ways you can help ECP besides giving money and other gifts. Here are a few:

  • Host a coffee/desert at your home or parish and invite all the Episcopalian Princeton alumni you know (ECP has a list too). The Chaplain and a student will make brief presentations about what's going on at ECP and ask for support.
  • Invite the Chaplain to preach at your church.
  • Work the phones for ECP's annual and capital fund campaigns.
  • Help manage the donor database, stuff envelopes, get mailings out (located in Princeton).
  • Send in names of Princeton alumni who are active in your church.
  • Pray for this ministry and those it serves daily.
