The 5th PUMaC 2010 is scheduled for Saturday, November 20, 2010. All of the rules are subject to change prior to the competition. Any changes will be reported in the News and Updates section of the site. The Main CompetitionTeams of eight high school students compete in individual, team, and proof-based math assessments. Afterwards, lunch is served, and students have the option of participating in various scheduled MiniEvents. High-scoring individuals will be invited to take the Individual Finals exam once we finish scoring the individual round. PUMaC oranizers will make the Individual Finals exam available to take even before scoring is finished, to allow contestants who feel they may have done well or who are just interested in taking the exam to take this test early and be able to take part in the MiniEvents later. The day will conclude with an awards ceremony acknowledging and congratulating the best teams and individuals in the competition. Although the rules will be similar to last year's competition, there will be some noteworthy changes. For more information, please consult the Official Main Competition Rules 2010. The Power CompetitionFor teams unable to travel to the site for the Main Competition, we offer a Power-Test-only competition. Teams of eight take only the Power Test, a proof-based test made available online a week prior to PUMaC. Both Main Competition participants and Power Competition participants will be taking the Power Round in the same time frame, the week before the on-site competition. Competitiors of the Power Competition must send us their solutions within one week, and teams are ranked seperately from those in the Main Competiton. We hope, this year, to welcome many International Teams in this competition. A more detailed description of this competition can be found at Official Power Competition Rules 2010. |
