Orange Key, the volunteer student tour guide service of Princeton University

About Us

Founded in 1935, the Orange Key Guide Service is a volunteer, non-profit organization comprised of students with diverse backgrounds and interests who are united in their desire to share Princeton University with the broader community. Orange Key tours serve as the primary means for prospective students and visitors to learn about the University through the individual perspectives of undergraduate students. Orange Key offers 26 tours per week with a few exceptions such as University holidays. Although primarily student run, Orange Key operates under the guidance and support of the Admission Office.

Guide Selection and Training

Orange Key guides undergo significant training to prepare them to lead campus tours. A training and selection process takes place each winter and requires prospective guides to observe two regular campus tours, participate in a "behind-the-scenes" training tour, and lead a campus tour that is evaluated by Orange Key officers. Our central training document is the legendary Guide for Guides, which provides details about history, traditions, and campus life at the University. Any current student interested in becoming an Orange Key guide should e-mail us.
