Emily '10

an English major

from Basking Ridge, New Jersey

How would you describe yourself in 2 sentences or less?
(What is most important to you in your life? What defines you?)

I love horses, writing poetry, reading fantastic books, learning languages, and singing Broadway show tunes in my off-key voice!

What are your academic interests (more specific than your major)?

English, Creative Writing, Russian Language, and Russian Literature!!

What do you do on campus (extracurricular interests)?

I am a member of the Princeton Equestrian Team, and I work on the staff of the Nassau Literary Review, one of the literary magazines on campus. I also began tap dancing for the first time here at Princeton, and am a member of Tap Cats dance company. I am a peer academic advisor, and of course, an Orange Key tour guide!

What have you learned about Princeton that you would have liked to know as a prospective student?

Princeton is an amazing place. It is a school that allows you to explore and discover your passions. I never expected to be studying Russian or learning how to tap dance when I decided to come here, but Princeton really has given me so many opportunities to expand my horizons. Not to mention that the people you meet here are some of the most fun and interesting people you will probably ever meet.

What do you hope (or plan) to do after graduation and in the rest of your life?

I hope to go on to graduate school in English, and maybe one day to become a professor. I also hope to publish a collection of poetry.
