about prism literary magazine focusing on issues of diversity and international concern

Mission Statement

The Prism Magazine is Princeton University's only literary magazine with a thematic focus on diversity, difference, and international topics. Through two print publications a year along with related event programming (weekly free-writing hours, writing contests, and other initiatives such as the "Faces of America" show) and partnerships with other student groups (Sustained Dialogue and The Salvageman Project, for example), the Prism strives to be an entity on campus that fosters the meaningful exchange of ideas through ongoing dialogue and expression of various forms.

Brief History of the Prism

The idea for a diversity publication on campus originated out of a Freshman Writing Seminar CBLI project (original proposal by Elizabeth Landau '06 can be found in our Fall 2006 issue). The Prism -- "a new lens through which students can see each other's differences" was born and officially recognized in May of 2003. Due to funding difficulties, however, the magazine went defunct from Fall 2005 to Spring 2006, after publishing only 4 issues in total.

In September of 2006, Sustained Dialogue and Moving ForWords Productions revived The Prism Magazine, and today it has re-established itself as an open forum for ideas and a growing force of change on campus. Thank you for visiting and for your support! Happy reading!
